About Techseum

Reading about a machine is not the same as understanding it.

Techseum is an interactive technology museum. Instead of explaining systems in long articles, it puts you inside them: a diagram you can drive, a model you can turn over, a bench where you change one variable and watch what breaks.

How an exhibit is built

The same four moves, every time. Consistency is what makes the museum navigable.

A question, not a topic

Every exhibit starts with something a person actually wonders: why does closing apps make my computer faster? The answer is the structure of the page.

Four depths, one truth

Levels do not simplify into inaccuracy. They add constraint, cost and failure mode, which is what a deeper understanding actually consists of.

The diagram is real

Simulations run on a stepped state machine you can pause and inspect. Lab benches compute their outputs from the values you set, so nothing is a canned animation.

Correctable by design

Claims are written so they can be checked. Where a topic has ongoing review, the level 4 copy is where the honest caveats live.

What we will not compromise on

Five principles that decide arguments about the product.

  1. 01

    Show, do not tell

A concept earns a diagram, a model or a simulation. Prose supports the interaction rather than replacing it.

  2. 02

    Depth on demand

One exhibit serves a thirteen-year-old and an engineering student through graduated levels, not two separate products.

  3. 03

    The visitor touches the machine

Orbit, drag, replay, adjust. Manipulation is the primary learning act, not a reward for reading.

  4. 04

    Momentum by design

XP, streaks and badges make returning the default, without substituting for the content itself.

  5. 05

    Clarity over decoration

The visual language is confident, but ornament that does not explain is removed. If it is not carrying meaning, it goes.

What is real in this build

Accounts, XP, progress and the assistant are live and backed by a database. Anything simulated is labelled as such.

Running for real
Accounts and sessions, XP, badges, streaks, bookmarks, the leaderboard, and every diagram, simulation and lab calculation.
Generated on demand
The assistant's answers are written when you ask, using general knowledge about the exhibit's subject, kept to its scope and your chosen depth.
